Family Fund

The Family Fund gives grants to lower income families with severely disabled children for things that make life easier and more enjoyable. The Family Fund helps with things to meet the additional needs of caring for a severely disabled child such as holidays, washing machines, driving lessons, computers and hospital visiting costs.

For more information about who can apply and how, parents can contact the Family Fund on 0845 130 4542, or visit www.familyfund.org.uk.

Early years team at the local authority

Many providers who have a childcare place available cannot offer it because they lack the facilities, staff or assistance that might be required to provide a quality place for a child. Some early years teams have funding specifically to assist childcare places for children with disabilities or special needs. This funding can often be used to pay for additional staff or specific equipment.

Parents should speak to the local early years team at their local authority.
