Planning to do a funded training scheme

New Deal

Jobcentre Plus may provide work-focused training through the New Deal Programme helping you get back into work. Help with childcare costs may also be available. If you are on the New Deal for Lone Parent (NDLP) programme and are undertaking a Work-Based Learning for Adults course, you may be able to claim your childcare costs from your training provider. For more information please contact your local Jobcentre Plus office for advice.

If you are on the New Deal for Lone Parent or New Deal for Partners (NDP) programme, and are working up to 16 hours per week, you may be eligible for the Childcare Subsidy. You can claim up to £67.50 per week for 1 child and up to £100 a week for 2 or more children.

Participants on New Deal for Lone Parents or New Deal for Partners programme may claim the Childcare Assist, for support with childcare costs, however, this is not available to all New Deal participants.

Further education colleges

Some further education colleges have their own crèche provision or on-site nursery for students. Contact the college to find out about places and costs. You may also be able to apply for help with any costs through the Learner Support Funds.
