Jobcentre Plus are experienced in helping people find jobs and/or vocational training opportunities. If you need financial support they can explain which benefits are available to you.
If you participate in a Work Preparation Support scheme offered by Jobcentre Plus, they may offer up to £175 per week for 1 child and up to £300 per week for 2 or more children to cover registered childcare costs while you attend interviews or approved training.
Other sources of support with childare costs from Jobcentre Plus may include:
- Childcare Assist- covers childcare costs for any 5-day period in the week before you start work
- Childcare Subsidy- childcare payments for up to one-year, for those who are returning to work for less than 16 hours per week
- Replacement Care funds- covers childcare costs for disabled children that exceed other Jobcentre Plus support described above

Job Grant
If you are returning to work after a year or more of unemployment you may be eligible for some additional financial support to help you with the transition to work, such as the Job Grant. Contact your local Jobcentre Plus office – find details at: www.direct.gov.uk to find out if you are eligible.
