Parents with a disability or special needs

If you have a disability or special needs and want to do some training or find a job, there are some programmes that can help with childcare costs. New Deal for Lone Parents or New Deal for Partners provide specific support for childcare costs for parents. Find out further information about participating in the New Deal Programme.

If you are eligible for Disabled Living Allowance and you have a disability that puts you at a disadvantage of getting a job you work for 16 hours or more per week, you can claim Working Tax Credit, including the disability element.

Contact the Disability Adviser at your local Jobcentre Plus for further information. Contact details can be found at www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk.

You can also find further information about a range of benefits in the Welfare Benefits and Tax Credits Handbook produced by the Child Poverty Action Group. Contact them on 020 7837 7979 or visit www.cpag.org.uk.
