Job Grant

If you are returning to work after a year or more of unemployment you may be eligible for some additional financial support to help you with the transition to work, such as the Job Grant. Contact your local Jobcentre Plus to find out if you are eligible.


New Deal Programme

If you have joined the New Deal programme and you are working 16 or more hours per week, your New Deal adviser will automatically advise you to claim Working Tax Credit.

If you are participating in the New Deal for Lone Parents programme and work up to 16 hours per week you may be able to access support through the Childcare Subsidy for up to 12 months. You can claim up to £87.50 per week for 1 child and up to £150 per week for 2 or more children.

Jobcentre Plus offers Childcare Assist to participants of New Deal for Lone Parents and New Deal for Partners. This funding can cover childcare costs for any 5-day period in the week before you start work, up to £175 for 1 child and up to £300 for 2 or more children. Alternatively, this can pay £35 per day for 1 child or £60 per day for 2 or more children can be paid for a period of less than 5 days. Payment is made directly to the childcare provider.
